About Sesame therapists

What is a Sesame Drama & Movement Therapist?

The Sesame Institute has been training people to work therapeutically with others since 1964. Our full-time training has been in place since 1975 and has trained over 650 people in the Sesame Approach.

Sesame Drama and Movement Therapists work in many different settings within NHS, Social Services and Education as well as in private practice.  Sesame Drama and Movement Therapists who have completed the full-time training and who hold themselves out as Dramatherapists are required by law to be registered with the Health Professions Council and to adhere to their Standards of Proficiency - Arts Therapists.  Some Sesame Drama and Movement Therapists have previously trained in other fields and are registered as required by their professional associations.  They have completed CPD training with the Sesame Institute to enable them to use the Sesame Approach in their existing practices.

The Sesame Institute has developed its own standards of Ethical Practice by which members of the Institute agree to practice. This sets out what clients and service purchasers can expect from a therapist who is a member of the Sesame Institute. Follow the links below for more information.
